The Claims Specialist answers questions and provides customer assistance to all beneficiaries / policyholders / agents and funeral homes regarding policy and claim status via telephone, e-mail, fax or fax.
Your Day to Day
- Communicates with customers through inbound and outbound phone calls, written correspondence and email to ensure successful set-up of new claims and gathering of claim requirements for existing claims.
- Opens new claims within established guidelines. Includes determination of in-force coverage, obtaining the necessary requirements through telephone and written contacts, verifying completeness.
- Explains policy coverage and provides details.
- Researches policy contracts to resolve issues and answer questions.
- Determines what requests should be forwarded for review by other departments or management.
- Prepares letters and updates claims system for newly reported claims.
- Provides appropriate follow-up for outstanding requirements on pending claims.
- Keeps records of customer interactions, recording details of inquiries, complaints, and comments, as well as actions taken.
- Maintains a familiarity with the details of Company products and policies, and a working knowledge of where to get assistance in responding to inquiries.
- Participates in special projects and assignments.
- Assists with incoming telephone calls and work overflow for various Claims functions.
What You Have
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).Life claims experience preferred but not required.Ability to type a minimum of 35wpmCompany
