Threat Detection Analyst
Join our team as a Threat Detection Analyst and use data to solve fraud and abuse problems. We are looking for a highly motivated and curious data professional to join our growing data and analytics team. In this role, you will work with a team of skilled and experienced data analysts to reliably solve complex problems, while getting hands-on experience with cutting edge technologies. In this hybrid role, you will work across the full data lifecyclecollecting, processing, analyzing, and modeling large-scale datasets to uncover actionable insights, build ML ready features, and support real-time analytics pipelines. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working with both data infrastructure and analytical modeling, and who's passionate about solving real world business problems using data.
Key Responsibilities :
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business goals and translate them into data solutions
- Clean, transform, and analyze large datasets using Python, SQL, Hive / Hadoop, and Spark
- Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) and present findings with clarity and insight
- Build and maintain data pipelines, streaming jobs, and batch workflows for ingestion, transformation, and delivery
- Work with product, analytics, and engineering teams to ensure data governance, data quality, and documentation
- Use tools like Splunk for monitoring, log analysis, and root cause investigations
- Contribute to the design and implementation of data-driven systems and dashboards
About You :
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)02 years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or data science rolesStrong proficiency in Python for data analysis and scripting (Pandas, NumPy, etc.)Good understanding of machine learning basics (supervised / unsupervised learning, overfitting, feature selection)Experience working with SQL, Hive, and Hadoop-based ecosystemsExposure to Apache Spark for large-scale data processingUnderstanding of data wrangling techniques and working with structured and semi structured dataExperience with cloud data infrastructure, especially Google Cloud Platform (GCP)Familiarity with BigQuery for analytics at scale is highly preferredHands-on experience with Splunk is a plus (for data search, dashboards, or log analysis)Familiarity with data governance practices, version control (Git), and workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow) is a bonusExcellent problem-solving skills and ability to learn quickly in a dynamic environmentPassion for working with data to solve meaningful business problemsA growth mindset and eagerness to learn new tools and techniquesTeam player with strong communication skills and the ability to work independentlyWillingness to dig into both analytical questions and engineering infrastructureThis position will operate as a Hybrid / Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid / Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member's core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
