About this Opportunity :
Coordinate measuring machine (CMM) programmers develop, implement, and validate CMM inspection programs and work holding. These individuals are responsible for ensuring all parameters required for the project are captured to support internal and external reporting requirements. Will support, back-up and mentor other CMM Programmers and team members as necessary.
Responsibilities
The primary duties and responsibilities of the CMM Programmer consist of but are not limited to :Preparing CMM Inspection plans based on part Geometry, tolerances, GD&T and functional requirements for optimum performance and accuracy.Creates and validates CMM programs for all reporting requirements. May run CMM to assure accuracy and repeatability of CMM programs.Testing new technologies that may reduce inspection and programming times and improve accuracy and evaluation and testing of new CMM hardware and software.Schedules programming workload based on due dates or escalation priorities.Reprograms existing programs to improve efficiency and accuracy.If required, designs fixtures to aid in running parts on CMM.Program in-process dimensional checks, to include CMM inspection set-up and operation.Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering and quality personnel as needed on technical issues.Collaborate across departments to ensure that information and data transfer effectively to meet customer needs and organizational objectives.Work with engineering and manufacturing engineering to optimize measurements of critical features and tightly tolerance machined parts.Requirements :
5 years’ experience in a Quality Control environment working with machined and metal fabrication components in all phases of inspection.Requires ability to read and write English.Minimum 3 years’ CMM operation experience including all machine functions and optional operating conditions.Requires knowledge of common software used for CMM programming including but not limited to Solidworks and Zeiss Calypso.Requires ability to perform arithmetic problems.Implements best metrology practices in compliance with ASME Y14.5 and Vander-Bend Manufacturing internal standards.Able to help drive productivity by consistently and effectively utilizing Zeiss hardware & software (e.g., quick change tooling and fixturing, off-line programming, etc.)Ability to express ideas, share information, listen actively, and demonstrate professionalism in written and verbal communications.Detail oriented, self-motivated, and enthusiastic.Continuously searching for ways to improve the current process.Able to balance multiple projects, utilizing various skill sets in a highly dynamic and diverse working environment.Able to work independently, but also be a strong contributor in small and large groups.Proficiency in blueprint reading (ASME GD&T Y14.5)Knowledge / Skills
