Job Description – Maintenance Technician
Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the overall upkeep and repair of the Hilton Garden Inn Irvine property, ensuring all guestrooms, public areas, equipment, and systems are maintained in excellent working condition. This position plays a key role in delivering a safe, comfortable, and high-quality experience for our guests and supporting hotel operations by performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
- Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks for guest rooms, meeting spaces, public areas, and back-of-house areas.
- Inspect and service equipment including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, kitchen appliances, laundry machines, and lighting fixtures.
- Complete guestroom PM program to Hilton brand standards, including repairs to furniture, walls, flooring, and fixtures.
- Ensure that maintenance logs and reports are accurate and up to date.
Guest Service & Response
Respond promptly to guest requests and maintenance issues, providing professional, courteous, and timely service.Resolve basic repair needs such as clogged drains, minor electrical issues, painting, or carpentry fixes.Communicate effectively with the front desk, housekeeping, and management regarding room status and urgent repairs.Safety & Compliance
Conduct regular property inspections for hazards, safety risks, and compliance with fire, health, and building codes.Maintain proper use of lockout / tagout procedures, PPE, and safe handling of chemicals and equipment.Assist in emergency situations (power outages, fire alarms, plumbing floods, etc.) by following established hotel safety protocols.Property & Grounds Upkeep
Maintain exterior areas including pool, spa, landscaping, parking lot, and lighting.Perform touch-up painting, drywall repairs, and general property beautification projects.Assist with special projects, renovations, and event setup as needed.Team Collaboration
Work closely with the Chief Engineer and hotel management to prioritize and complete daily work orders.Partner with housekeeping to ensure rooms are guest-ready after maintenance.Train and assist other staff in minor maintenance procedures when required.Qualifications
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required.Minimum 1–2 years of general maintenance, facilities, or building operations experience; hotel / hospitality environment preferred.Skills & Knowledge
Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, painting, and mechanical systems.Skilled in the use of basic hand and power tools; experience with building management systems (BMS / CMMS) is a plus.Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals, safety rules, and technical instructions.Traits & Abilities
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.Excellent communication and customer service mindset.Ability to prioritize tasks, stay organized, and work independently or as part of a team.Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly.Comfortable working on ladders, scaffolding, and in confined spaces.Able to stand, walk, and perform physical labor for extended periods.Benefits & Perks
