Job Overview

The Bereavement Coordinator provides therapeutic interventions including grief and emotional support. Additionally, they provide resources to parents, caregivers and siblings who are experiencing anticipatory grief due to a life limiting illness or bereavement due to the death of a loved one. The coordinator develops, implements, and facilitates grief support programs, and resources. Additionally, the coordinator provides support, education, and training to CHCO team members and the community.

Shift : Day - Some evening and weekends when running events and facilitating groups. In person role.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all the following essential functions. These examples do not include all the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

1. Administers decedent affairs policies, practices, and responsibilities.

2. Coordinates autopsy review with family, medical team, and coroners when appropriate.

3. Coordinates, in collaboration with other team members, use of the viewing room

4. Assesses patients, families, and team members' bereavement needs and provides additional therapeutic interventions including grief education, emotional support, and resources to parents, caregivers and siblings experiencing anticipatory grief or bereavement.

5. Collaborates across other functions of the hospital to include Clinical Social Workers, Child Life Specialists and / or Chaplains and other team members to support families experiencing grief.

6. Develops and provides grief materials and trainings as necessary for both internal and external stakeholders.

7. Develops, organizes, and facilitates support groups, other grief programming, and events.

8. Evaluates and adapts grief programming, events, and interventions to meet the needs of families, staff, and the community.

9. Leads the Bereavement Council and participates in relevant committees both internally and externally.

10. Partners with other grief support organizations to provide appropriate programming, best practices, partnerships, and referrals for bereaved families.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degrees

Master's degree in Divinity, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Child Life, or related field

  • Experience
  • One year experience providing bereavement support services in a healthcare setting.

  • Licenses & Certifications
  • Relevant certifications for discipline

    Salary Information

    Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

    Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week) : $57,184.55 to $85,776.82
