RN - Weekend / Holiday Inpatient Team Lead
JOB SUMMARY
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
1. Responsible for assisting with weekend / holiday patient care operations in all 3 care centers ensuring that policies, practices, procedures and standards of agency, accreditation, regulatory, and legal requirements are met.
2. Assists with patient care activities including but not limited to admissions, discharges, and transfers.
3. Fill empty shifts for call outs of any discipline
4. Works collaboratively with Patient Access Dept, Clinical Liaisons, on-call staff, and referral sources to smoothe transition to the inpatient unit..
5. Responsible for assuring quality outcomes for patients / families.
6. Coordinate and address any issues with building maintenance for the 3 care centers.
7. Fosters an atmosphere conducive to enhanced employee satisfaction and professional growth.
8. As needed, will serve as liaison / resource nurse to hospitals, other facilities, and health care professionals.
9. Annually continues personal development to enhance practice and profession.
10. Organizes and performs work effectively and efficiently.
11. Maintains and adjusts schedule to enhance team performance.
12. Demonstrates positive interpersonal relations in dealing with all members of the team.
13. Maintains and promotes customer satisfaction.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
1. Education : Graduate of an approved school of nursing, either through an AD, Diploma or BSN program. BSN or master's degree in nursing or related field preferred.
2. Licensure / Certifications : Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of North Carolina / South Carolina.
3. Experience : Minimum of three years nursing experience in hospice within an acute care setting is required.
4. Essential Technical / Motor Skills : Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Verbal and written communication skills with ability to speak and write clearly, and ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and / or boards of directors. Collaborative problem solving skills, planning skills, and management skills, especially those of coordination and evaluation. Knowledge of licensing, certification, and accreditation standards. A strong background of nursing skills, knowledge of nursing standards and the Nurse Practice Act. Ability to analyze trends. Must be literate in the English language.
5. Interpersonal Skills : Ability to develop positive interactions with patients, families, physicians, staff, peers, and external customers to effectively care for patients and manage the daily operations of the facility. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Ability to work in a group. Conflict resolution skills. Knowledge of stress management.
6. Essential Physical Requirements : Sitting for deskwork and meetings, writing, some walking and standing, driving an automobile, and climbing stairs.
7. Essential Mental Abilities : Must be able to read and understand regulations and standards, formulate policies and procedures, manage daily operations, direct patient care activities, supervise staff, and plan, implement and evaluate programs and interventions. Requires a high level of mental faculties accompanied by short and long-term memory.
8. Essential Sensory Requirements : Ability to use sight to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care activities, monitor records, etc. Ability to use hearing to communicate with staff and patients.
9. Exposure to Hazards : Potential exposure to blood and blood borne pathogens, body fluids, sharps, and infectious diseases. May be exposed to dangerous animals and traffic hazards while performing supervisory visits. May encounter patients and other situations which present a potential threat to personal safety. May encounter temperature changes and weather extremes.
10. Other - Hours of Work : Weekends- Friday 5pm to Monday 8am and agency recognized holidays.
11. Must have a valid driver license and reliable transportation.
12. Population Served : All patient populations from infants through geriatric with life limiting illness.
