Job Title : Application Engineer
Job Description
The Applications Engineer is responsible for supporting the completion of proposals and assisting with the engineering and design of projects related to oil and gas processing equipment.
Responsibilities
- Begin development of required industry skills while working with a Senior Process Engineer in a mentoring environment.
- Conduct process design of units including simulations and equipment sizing for oil and gas processing.
- Assist and advise other engineers and technologists.
- Attend client communications and meetings as required.
- Generate and maintain PFDs, Heat & Material Balance, and P&IDs.
- Prepare process-related documents such as equipment and instrumentation datasheets, line sizing calculations, and line lists.
- Design selected equipment to be manufactured in-house.
- Specify and purchase selected buyout equipment, including issuing Request for Quotations, vendor comparison, and final vendor selection.
- Select control valves and pressure safety valves.
- Review and implement client specifications.
- Collaborate with instrumentation, piping, and vessel design groups to ensure proper process design of all equipment.
- Review fabrication drawings and conduct 3-D model reviews.
- Work with shop staff to discuss fabrication issues and assist in resolving design problems.
- Provide technical support and guidance to help clients select appropriate technology for desired results.
- Complete bid pre-qualifications as assigned.
- Prepare cost estimates for pressure vessels, piping, structural elements, and assemblies on assigned proposals under the guidance of the sales and project departments.
- Review customer specifications and applicable codes.
- Determine type of materials needed and any special requirements.
- Liaise and obtain quotes for material and sub-vendor requirements in terms of pricing and delivery.
- Provide final estimate figure and required information for bid preparation.
Essential Skills
Proficiency with Promax, FRQ, and estimation tools.Familiarity with ISO 9001 and ISO standards.Minimum of 5 years of experience in an Applications Engineer role with an EPCM company in Oil & Gas Engineering and Fabrication.Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.Understanding of process design of units, including simulations and equipment sizing.Experience with natural gas processing, with a plus for knowledge in liquified natural gas, heavy oil processing, oil refining, and offshore processing.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Capability to mentor under a Senior Process Engineer.Ability to assist and advise other engineers and technologists.Expertise in PFD and Heat & Material Balance generation, P&ID generation, evaluation and maintenance.Skill in specification and purchasing of selected buyout equipment.Experience in reviewing and implementing client specifications.Work Environment
This role is fully remote in the Houston, Texas area until the end of January.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pasadena, Texas.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $62.00 - $62.00 / hr.
