Location : Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, VA
Hours of Performance : Services shall be provided Sunday through Saturday between 0600 and 0600 for one hundred thirty-five (135) hour
per week.

Responsibilities
clinical skills. Providing independent management of women's health care, focusing particularly
on pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period, care of the newborn, family planning, postmenopausal and gynecological needs of women. The HCW shall utilize professional knowledge
and skill in physical assessment, clinical management of gynecological and obstetrical problems,
health maintenance, disease prevention and management of total health care needs of women and
newborns. The primary work settings are the Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN) and Labor
and Delivery Departments, although the HCW may provide services in other areas of the
hospital. The HCW shall provide technical guidance of patient care and work with other
members of the healthcare team as consultant, clinical guide, mentor, teacher, and / or team
member. Services shall be provided in accordance with the Standards for the Practice of
Midwifery, as defined by the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM).

Qualifications
Degree / Education : Master's degree in nursing. Graduate from a certified nurse midwife
education program accredited by the American College of Nurse Midwives.
Experience : Have a minimum of two (2) years of full-time experience working as a CNM within the
past three (3) years. As required to meet clinical competency requirements specified in
the Service-specific credentialing instructions.
Licensure : Possess and maintain a current unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse in
anyone (1) of the 50 States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico,
Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Certifications : Certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board. Current Neonatal
Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
Provide two (2) letters of recommendation written within the last two (2) years attesting
to the HCW's clinical skills. A minimum of one (1) of the letters must be from a
supervisor. The other letter must be from either clinic or hospital administrators or
practicing physicians. Reference letters shall attest to the quality and quantity of experience including, but not limited to, the communication skills between practitioner
and patient and among peers, and must include name, title, phone number, date of
reference, address and signature of the individual providing reference.
