SUMMARY OF POSITION
Provides professional nursing care according to the ANA Standards of Nursing Practice, in conformance with the scope of practice, plan of care and physician / nursing orders ensuring that the highest quality of nursing care is delivered in accordance with the established standards and procedures.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administer medicines (p.o., IM, subq), perform special care treatments and procedures such as dressings, in and out catheterizations.
- Process medical and nursing orders, according to facility policy and procedure.
- Operate necessary equipment properly to carry out physician orders.
- Intervene, according to facility policy and procedure, in emergencies and life-threatening situations.
- Report timely with pertinent data in a concise manner between outgoing and incoming shifts.
- Perform other activities as assigned.
- Chart significant and meaningful observations of the residents reflecting nursing process.
- Assess and identify resident problems, symptoms, and behavioral changes.
- Supervise ancillary nursing staff effectively.
- Collaborate with all members of the health care team to promote quality resident care.
- Communicate with physicians as necessary.
- Communication skills reflect caring and respect for residents, families and other members of the health care team.
- Knowledgeable legal guidelines and ethical standards of the LPN in the state of Tennessee.
- Attend 12 in-service programs yearly to maintain competency expectations.
- Knowledge of Trezevant’s Mission, vision and values.
- Report for work on time, as scheduled as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
Scope of Authority / Reporting :
The License Practical Nurse (LPN) will make clinical decisions. This position reports to the Director of Nursing and / or designee.

Maintain a State of TN or a multi-state license as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
