Overview
The appropriate candidate will be responsible for operations and maintenance of the molecular pathology laboratory with a focus on next-generation sequencing. The candidate will be responsible for validation of testing, running clinical samples, and running research samples.
Responsibilities
Perform basic molecular genetic techniques (nucleic acid
isolation, PCR, sequencing, etc.)
Perform next-generation sequencing (extraction, library prep,
etc.)
Perform some analysis and interpretation of results.
Maintain detailed documentation of procedures and results
Maintain laboratory equipment and preparation of reagents.
Perform quality control; perform result entry
Assist with running research projects, such as grant
proposals and IRB approval
Assist with lab inspection preparation and related tasks
Daily maintenance of laboratory, including the receipt and
unpacking of reagents, cleaning of work surfaces, and routine
ordering will be required. As needed, this individual will assist
to rotating residents and fellows who are on rotation or
performing research projects.
Qualifications
Experience Requirements : 1 year molecular pathology required 1 year next-generation sequencing preferred Education : High School Diploma required Bachelors Biology, Chemistry or Related field required Certification / Licensure : Certified Medical Technologist (ASCP) required or within 6 months : Travel : Up to 10% Additional Details : Extensive knowledge of molecular genetic testing including DNA extraction, PCR, sequencing, microdissection, and other techniques Knowledge of next-generation sequencing, including extraction, library preparation, sequencing, and some data interpretation
