Senior Internal Auditor

Hennepin County's Internal Audit division is seeking a Senior Internal Auditor to perform routine financial, operational, compliance and special audits of the county's processes. This position will also work with the county's external financial auditor to conduct the annual Single Audit of federal grant spending.

Location and hours : This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at 625 4th Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55415, and remote as job duties require. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 : 30 p.m. with options for flexibility. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.

About the position type : This is a full-time benefit earning position. You must be a current regular or probationary employee of Hennepin County's Audit, Compliance, and Investigation Services department to apply for this position. Limited duration employees not eligible. This position is internally classified as an Internal Auditor, Senior.

In this position, you will :

• Perform audit work in compliance with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) professional standards.
• Assess risk associated with complex financial, operational and compliance activities to identify areas that may warrant audit attention.
• Confirm scope of audit review with principal internal auditors and / or internal audit manager.
• Establish appropriate audit objectives, criteria and scope.
• Formulate audit recommendations and communicate audit results to customers, including senior leadership, both verbally and in writing.
• Work with external financial auditors to facilitate the annual Single Audit process.
• Provide recommendations for changes to Internal Audit division standards, policies and procedures.
