Product Design Manager, Horizon Worlds

Overview

The Horizon Team at Meta is building a social User Generated Content (UGC) platform where people can find people, places, and things they care about a Metaverse without constraints where people have freedom of identity and expression and can experience living virtual worlds that could not exist in the real world. Our vision is to build a global-scale UGC platform where the world’s creators, performers, and more will be able to create their place, and enable their communities to connect, engage and play in all kinds of ways. Responsibilities

Build and manage a talented team of designers and leaders that consistently delivers on projects and is well-balanced across a range of design skill sets

Responsible for overall team performance and health, resource allocation, and project prioritization

Lead and manage the design and end-to-end experience of a product from conception to launch in partnership with product managers, engineers, user experience researchers and other creative disciplines

Take broad, conceptual ideas and turn them into useful and valuable products incorporating expertise in UX design, 3D real-time experience design, game design, content design as well as tooling, 3D interaction patterns, extensible product systems, and cross-surface experience design

Cultivate a healthy design process for the team, and be a key contributor to your organization's product strategy, driving business outcomes through design

Effectively communicate your team's product goals (both within the team and outside the team), and connect related projects across the company so that problems or joint decisions can be resolved quickly

Proactively solicit and provide feedback from designers and a broader product team in order to continually raise our bar for quality

Stay on top of industry trends and emerging technologies, including advancements in Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, games, and 3D real-time tools, with an eye toward platform evolution, creator tools, and a working knowledge of influential games and systems

Minimum Qualifications

8+ years of experience in Design (product, game, experience, etc)

4+ years of design leadership experience with direct reports under your guidance and leadership

8+ years of experience working collaboratively with product, engineering, design, content, art, and user research teams

Experience building and shipping applications, software, or games across a variety of platforms

Experience with 3D development engines such as Unity or Unreal

Experience leading product direction and strategic thinking with the experience developing product goals, identify opportunities, and making decisions based on the impact to people and the company

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with delivering 0-1 products from concept stages to launch

Experience working on large scale, complex, ambiguous projects across multiple teams

Experience managing managers

Knowledge of 3D art and visual design principles

Experience developing or designing VR or AR experiences

Experience designing UGC platforms, tools for creatives, or extensible systems in real-time environments

Familiarity with a broad range of game genres and mechanics with the ability to analyze and reference influential titles

General design knowledge across a range of design specializations including game design

Public Compensation

$196,000 / year to $272,000 / year + bonus + equity + benefits
