Job Overview
Reports to a Practice Manager / Director for administrative supervision and the Practice Site Physician or designee for clinical supervision. Is responsible for the coordination and delivery of primary care, as specified by the appropriate certifying agency, to BMG patients at designated work sites. Provides clinical and administrative assistance to BMG programs, etc. Works collaboratively in the education of nursing students, medical residents, and other pre-professionals. Be on their team. Working within the approved scope of practice as designated for this type of professional. Obtaining complete medical history and physical data on patients. Interpreting and integrating data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as needed. Performing a complete physical exam and recording findings. Collaborating with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients. Ordering appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Synthesizing data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention. Administering medications and injections according to physician direction. Suturing minor lacerations. Interviewing and advising patients regarding health and illness prevention. Recommending community resources to meet patient and family needs. Instructing patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions. Maintaining and reviewing patient records, charts, and other pertinent information. Posting tests and examination results. Triaging patient telephone calls and providing consultation. Coordinating or when appropriate managing medical and surgical emergencies. Providing monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits. Provides clinical and administrative assistance to BMG programs, e.g., education, follow-up, and the like by : Participating in health education. Maintaining related records and statistical data and preparing statistical reports as needed. Participating in interdisciplinary care conferences and assisting with referrals and dissemination of information to appropriate vendors. Assisting in the development and coordination of ongoing education and follow-up programs designed to measure client outcomes. Assisting in development and compliance of clinical protocols, policies and procedures. Participating in quality review and improvement programs; monitoring quality and outcomes of care rendered. Communicating with physician(s) to ensure the quality and timeliness for services rendered to patients. Performing other job related assignments and special project as directed. Attends and participates in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared. Completes mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes. Consistently utilizes appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self. Complies with established organization and department policies. Demonstrates interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with patient(s), family of patient(s), physicians, other professionals and paraprofessionals. Demonstrates high level of communication skills, both oral and written, necessary for effective communication with patient / family, physicians, and referral sources. Works in a clinic environment requiring physical exertion, frequent changes in job demands, certain undesirable patient care activities, and exposure to biohazards. Requires the physical ability and stamina (i.e. to walk / stand for prolonged periods of time, push carts / wheelchairs, lift up to 50 pounds, to position / lift patients at a maximum of 35 pounds without assistance, provide CPR, etc.) to perform the essential functions of the position.
