Catalent's Kansas City facility is home to our Oral & Specialty Drug Delivery, Biologics Analytical Services and Clinical Supply Services businesses. The site provides a range of integrated services for oral solid dosage forms, from formulation development and analytical testing to clinical and commercial-scale manufacture. The Kansas City facility is a Center-of-Excellence for our Biologics Analytical Services business. Our talented team has over 25 years of experience providing analytical services for stand-alone and integrated biologics projects.

The Director, Project Management, will be responsible for providing leadership to the Bioanalytical facility's Project Management team, ensuring all projects are managed effectively and according to client expectations. The Director will be an active member of the Global Project Management team, participating in global objectives and driving the development of the Global Project Management function. As an active member of the site(s) leadership team representing Project Management, participating in site decisions and initiatives and striving to meet revenue, metrics and goals. The Director, Project Management, will promote continuous improvement in all aspects of the job coordination with Sales, Operations, Client Services, EH&S and QA to ensure the highest level of client service.

The Role

  • Leads financial solutioning and results when issues or expanded scope are identified considering both current and long-term objectives and relationship.
  • Collaborate with internal program teams to ensure program readiness at the earliest points in the business development process.
  • Delivers on multiple assigned program objectives within agreed upon time, budget, scope, and quality. The ability to balance a variety of programs at a given time. Assume the role of client advocate, manage escalations and ensure all team members act as a client advocate.
  • Effectively support, supervise and monitor performance of Principal Program Managers, Senior Program Managers, Program Managers, Associate Program Managers and Coordinators in the management of assigned Programs, and ensure adherence to all set Goals and Objectives.
  • Maintains open, collaborative and solution-focused communication with clients. Evaluates feedback to determine and drive appropriate changes in the business.
  • Consistently seeks and promotes innovative solutions or approaches to problem solving, from a technical and functional viewpoint, in a highly flexible and interactive manner as scientific data reveals new information or requirements evolve or change.
  • Works with PM leadership team to evolve current state PM practices to best-in-class program management competencies across the company. Participate in forecasting, revenue and S&OP activities.
  • Routinely takes on leadership role in support of both tactical and strategic PM initiatives and support or lead site / network initiatives. Drive recruitment, retention and development strategies.
  • Is involved in working with Business Development and Marketing to support the winning of new business and liaison with BD in terms of changes in scope of work, and future contract opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Candidate

  • Bachelor of Science required, preferably in a scientific discipline, Advanced degree (M.S., M.B.A., PhD) is preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in project management, pharmaceutical industry experience highly preferred. A portion of experience must in a program management capacity with emphasis on external client interactions.
  • Preferring 5 years of Leadership experience and good negotiation, presentation and facilitation skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of the contract development / research, pharmaceutical and biotech industries.
  • Customer related experience and excellent client facing skills desire to meet and indeed exceed customers' expectations.
  • Demonstrable leadership experience at Catalent (including but not limited to participation in Catalent-sponsored leadership programs such as NGGL, GOLD, LEAD Now, GM Excellence, and GROW) may be considered in place of external experience.
