Devices to manage :

  • Routing / Switching / Palo Alto & Azure Networking
  • Cisco -3048TP , ISR4321 ,C93180YC
  • Palo Alto - PA-3220 ,Azure virtual appliance
  • Aruba – 7210, 303H Aps
  • Cellular OOB (technology TBD)

Azure networking

  • VNETs ,Peering ,Routing ,VPN from cloud to on prem & ExpressRoute

    • Acumen for network security. All requests for opening gates, opening data flows should be scrutinized for potential exploitation, data leaks. Customers can be challenged for business need. Deference to policy and process, escalation and appropriate sign off on non-standard asks or potential risky behavior

  • Security and protection of the environment comes FIRST

    • Day to day activities : ACL changes, port vlan changes, port enablement

    Troubleshooting routing issues, unresponsive devices, end user issues, ACLs

    Extreme attention to detail in planning, change management, documentation, adherence to process and communication.

  • The bar is very high here as we need to document and show evidence of everything. No cowboy-ing fixes or changes on the fly

    • Work with customers to design and implement changes according to business needs

    Device maintenance - Regular updates, Performance monitoring, Availability / health monitoring Recommendations for upgrades, potential bottlenecks, growth forecasting

    WAN management / connectivity

    Implementing encryption protocols; jealously guarding all communication between all nodes

    Assist FTEs with network design

  • Understand a building floor layout
  • Connectivity between a central server room, IDF / MDF, edge switches and finally client devices
  • Build for redundancy and high availability
  • Plan for OOB access with little to no on prem human assistance

    • Secure login to network devices

  • RADIUS / MFA
  • Ensure all devices are highly protected, highly secure

    • Peer review of changes

  • High visibility to breaking changes
  • High scrutiny on security
  • Generic Managerial Skills
