Entry Level Engineer

Collins Aerospace is currently seeking qualified candidates for entry level engineers in our Military Avionics & Helicopters Flight Management and Controls department located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Teams are comprised of cross-functional engineers working in an AGILE environment (approximately 6-10 people) focused on the design and development of software only products. Products supported with this role include : CAAS / Flight 2 Flight Management Solutions - Our signature products for Military Avionics and Helicopters as part of the Collins Integrated Avionics Systems, fielded on thousands of aircraft today, at this moment. Specific capabilities include FMS (Flight Management Systems), Flight Director, and Flight Controls.

What You Will Do :

  • You will develop requirements and tests for our fixed winged platforms under the supervision of Flight Management Applications engineering team leadership.
  • You will design and verify updates to the Flight Management software for KC-135, E-3 Sentry, and P-3 avionics.
  • You will communicate plans and status on your assigned stories to your agile team members.
  • You will coordinate with the platform engineering team and other software domain teams to identify and track dependencies for shared features.
  • You will champion knowledge sharing, elevating department expertise through both formal training and informal mentoring.

  • You will take a program through the full software development cycle, starting with contract award and ending in black label delivery.

  • Qualifications You Must Have :

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree and 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program / contract.
  • Qualifications We Prefer :

  • Familiarity with Python scripting.
  • Experience working with DOORS or Jama.
  • Familiarity with a Scaled Agile environment and Jira tracking.
  • Strong foundation in communication skills and team collaboration.
