JOB SUMMARY

Assists the Planning Department with the review of development site plans, cartographic analysis, reporting, data analysis, grant

applications and planning of transit routes and transit stops.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Tracks and compiles statistics for service data including, but not limited to, ridership, revenue hours, revenue miles, maximum

vehicles, and cancelled service utilizing appropriate software; resolves any data issues that may arise. Assists with grant applications.

Provides data and statistical analysis including information on zero emission busses; updates funds graphics and monthly ridership

reports for accounting purposes; analyses multiple data sources to obtain the most accurate information; compiles and reports annual

agency revenue service tracks, maintains and updates reports and research, and identifies and corrects data as needed. Generates a

variety of mandated reports to state agencies including the California Departments of Transportation, to ensure compliance with

applicable laws and regulations; reports key performance indicators and other transit data to the Federal Transit Administration's

(FTA) National Transit Database. Performs research and conducts studies on bus routes, schedule times, route transfer points, bus

stop locations, bus shelter and bench locations, route modifications, route timetables, and schedule enhancements; analyzes findings

and prepares written recommendation including maps, graphs, charts, and other visual aids to illustrate the results of analyses and

studies; prepares multi-media presentations for use in making civic, educational, and regional planning presentations on transit issues.

Research policies; track and review environmental impact reports, development plans, and General Plan updates; provides documents

and other useful information for evaluation of development applications related to transportation service. Performs related

assignments as required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & ABILITY

• Knowledge of the basic principles, practices, procedures, and information sources of modern urban and transportation planning;

applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulatory codes, ordinances, and procedures; market and feasibility assessments and trend

analysis; key performance indicators within a transportation and transit planning context; land use and transit dynamics, including

characteristics of rural transit policies and practices; economic, environmental, and / or social concepts applicable to the transportation

planning process; basics of database development, and / or other graphic tools; zero-emissions vehicle technology and practical

applications; District and mandated safety rules, regulations, and protocols; techniques for providing a high level of customer service

by effectively dealing with the public, vendors, contractors, and District staff; modern equipment and communication tools used for

business functions and program, project, and task coordination, including computers and software programs relevant to work

performed; the structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and

grammar.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in planning, public administration, environmental studies,

resource management, data science, or a related field and one (1) year of experience in urban planning, land use planning,

transportation planning, environmental planning, or a related field.
