Overview

Engineering (SCHIE) is the team behind Microsoft’s expanding Cloud Infrastructure and responsible for powering Microsoft’s “Intelligent Cloud” mission. SCHIE delivers the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Teams, OneDrive and the Microsoft Azure platform globally with our server and data center infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability solutions. Our focus is on smart growth, high efficiency, and delivering a trusted experience to customers and partners worldwide and we are looking for passionate, high energy engineers to help achieve that mission.

The Cloud Hardware Analytics & Tools (CHAT) Team within SCHIE develops advanced analytical and tooling solutions to support and improve the quality of Microsoft Azure. We collect and analyze data across the full Azure stack, HW & SW components, Silicon development processes, and much more. CHAT AI, a branch of CHAT, provides AI capabilities and solutions to the larger org in order to improve quality, security and productivity / throughput.

We are looking for a Principal Data Scientist to join our team!

Qualifications

Required / Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 8+ year(s) data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 10+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 12+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)OR equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of industry experience
  • 1+ years of hands-on experience working with AI solutions in the industry

Other Requirements

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and / or government security screening requirements is necessary for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings : Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
  • Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience working with Azure
  • Hands-on experience designing and implementing complex automation projects.
  • Data Science IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $161,600 - $286,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $209,600 - $314,400 per year.

    Responsibilities

    Identify opportunities for custom and existing AI solutions to drive business impact across the division

    Design, develop, and implement AI and ML solutions to improve workflows and deliver measurable ROI

    Stay informed on industry trends and advancements in AI, ML, and emerging enterprise technologies

    Evaluate new enterprise solutions, effectively communicate their potential, and lead efforts to automate processes

    Collaborate closely with cross-functional and virtual teams to ensure alignment and successful execution

    Lead highly technical projects with a focus on customer satisfaction and business outcomes

    Provide technical leadership while actively contributing to hands-on development and solution implementation

    Coordinate with internal partners to identify pain points, define requirements, and deliver innovative software solutions

    Operate effectively in a fast-paced environment using cutting-edge technologies and enterprise-level systems
