Job Title : Cyber Mathematician
Battelle's Cyber Trust and Analytics division is seeking a Cyber Mathematician to work in our Columbus, Ohio location.
As a Mathematician at Battelle you will have the opportunity to hone your skills solving hard mathematical problems that arise from physical and software systems. Daily activities include algorithm implementation and customization and mathematical analysis while working closely with engineers.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the team to aid in the selection, design, implementation, and optimization of novel mathematical techniques applied to cyber security problems
- Support the latest team's research and development programs
- Work closely with cyber security experts and engineers to develop effective data solutions
- Conduct and / or participate in assigned technical tasks and activities with minimum supervision and within time and budget constraints.
- Work independently and effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment; Effectively communicate ideas with other engineers; and work with minimal supervision
Key Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field with 5 years of experience or master's degree in related field with 2 years of experience or PhD; or an equivalent combination of education and / or experience in a related field.Expertise in one or more of the following areas : (Note candidates with only one area of expertise or a closely related area of expertise are still encouraged to apply.)Algebra, Number Theory, Cryptography
Graph TheoryQuantum Physics, Mathematical Physics or Field TheoryNumerical Analysis, Numerical Methods, High-Performance Computing, Modeling or SimulationSymbolic Computation or SolversDynamical Systems, Control Theory, Stochastic Processes, Operations Research, or ODEsDemonstrated experience developing in Python, C / C++, R, Matlab, Fortran, Verilog, VHDL or another computational language.Experience solving complex problems.Excitement about learning new technical subject areas and curiosity about cyber security problems.Must be a US citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility.Preferred Qualifications
