Controller

Our client is a growing enterprise with multiple operating entities, seeking a highly skilled Controller to oversee and elevate all aspects of their financial operations. This is a vital role that ensures the owner and leadership team are equipped with accurate, timely financial insight to drive strong decision-making across the business.
As Controller, you will serve as both a financial steward and strategic advisor, responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions while providing big-picture financial clarity. Youll own reporting processes and serve as the central hub for financial activity across all locations. If youre energized by accuracy, process improvement, and having a front-row seat to leadership decision-making, this role is for you.
Responsibilities
Financial Oversight & Reporting
- Provide timely, detailed reporting to support the owner in making confident business decisions
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, accounts receivable, and bank accounts monthly
- Prepare and post journal entries for all entities
- Perform monthly cost of sales reconciliations and deferred sales entries
- Manage intercompany transactions and eliminating entries for consolidated financials
- Conduct quarterly corporate merchandise inventories and property reconciliation
- Prepare and distribute monthly AR reports and lead AR collection efforts
Cash & Treasury Management
Oversee all aspects of cash flow managementHandle bank reconciliations and maintain covenant compliance reportingServe as liaison with banking partners; prepare financial packages for underwriting and loansOversee all owner distributions and support insurance underwriting requirementsAccounts Payable & Invoicing
Review, code, and approve vendor invoices for timely weekly check runsSupervise DECA invoicing processReconcile company credit card transactionsApprove and code all benefits-related invoicingPayroll & HR Accounting
Approve payroll and manage accruals for PTO and sick timePrepare management overtime reportingAdminister medical reimbursement programOversee 401(k) plan contributions, compliance testing, and Form 5500 filingLiaise with external payroll providers, auditors, and third-party administratorsTax & Regulatory Compliance
Prepare sales tax filings across multiple locationsHandle personal property tax filings and respond to census requestsCoordinate with CPA firm on tax returns, quarterly estimates, and auditsPrepare IRS Form 720 for self-funded medical insuranceManage annual workers compensation payroll auditOversee all licensing and Arizona Corporation Commission renewalsSystems & Tools
Reconcile accounting system data with Computer Management Systems (CMS)Ensure QuickBooks Enterprise is used to its full capacityBuild and maintain Excel-based financial models and reporting toolsEnsure merchant account and membership complianceLegal & Governance
Serve as liaison to attorney for corporate minutesSupport annual licensing, renewals, and documentation across all jurisdictionsRequirements :
Bachelors degree in accounting, Finance, or related fieldMinimum 5 years of full-scope accounting experience, ideally in a multi-entity environmentStrong proficiency with QuickBooks Enterprise and Excel (pivot tables, financial modeling, etc.)Meticulous attention to detail, high integrity, and exceptional organizational skillsProven ability to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlinesComfortable being the financial go-to for both strategic and tactical needsExperience working with external auditors, CPAs, and legal counsel preferredKnowledge of sales tax, payroll, benefits accounting, and 401(k) administration
