About Multifamily MEP, Inc.
We're not your typical MEP contractor. Multifamily MEP, Inc. is a vertically integrated platform purpose‑built for the multifamily construction industry, combining in‑house engineering, preconstruction, execution, and service across all MEP trades—mechanical, electrical (including low voltage), plumbing, and fire sprinkler.
What sets us apart? We're building the nation's most technology‑forward MEP firm—fusing robotics, automation, AI, and BIM to compress timelines, improve quality, and drive cost efficiency at scale. We're on track to open 11 offices and manage $1B+ in multifamily construction volume over the next five years.
Now we need a bold, inventive, execution‑focused Director of Field Technology to help us bring the next wave of MEP automation to life.
The Role
You'll lead the development, deployment, and continuous improvement of our jobsite robotics and construction automation systems, focusing on scalable, practical solutions that reduce field labor and increase install precision. This is a highly cross‑functional role reporting to the CEO and working alongside the CTO, VP of Engineering, MEP Operations Advisor, and office‑level project teams.
From autonomous robotics to BIM‑integrated robotics workflows, you'll take hardware and software from proof of concept to production jobsite—with an emphasis on simplicity, usability, and measurable ROI.
Key Responsibilities
Robotics & Automation Strategy
- Design and lead implementation of robotic systems that execute fieldwork.
- Work with vendors or internal teams to prototype and scale mobile robotics platforms that can operate in indoor / outdoor multifamily construction environments.
- Ensure all robotics initiatives are aligned with BIM workflows and designed for real‑world constructability and field conditions.
Field Tech Integration
Develop and deploy tech‑enabled field tools such as layout automation, augmented install instructions, and jobsite navigation using BIM data.Coordinate closely with BIM, engineering, and project managers to ensure new technologies integrate seamlessly into the execution process.Lead user training and feedback loops with field personnel.Product Development & Vendor Partnerships
Source and integrate COTS (commercial off‑the‑shelf) robotics platforms and customize for MEP needs.Collaborate with CTO on development roadmap and system architecture for automation and robotics stack.Oversee vendor relationships, pilot programs, safety validation, and deployment planning.Operational Performance
Measure field ROI, productivity improvements, and labor savings from robotics deployment.Refine KPIs to track install velocity, accuracy, and reduction in rework using technology.Champion adoption across multiple offices and standardize deployment protocols.Who You Are
