Instructional Designer-Education

Works in a collaborative environment with faculty and staff to provide support for technology enhanced teaching and learning activities delivered via face to face, blended, interactive video and online environments. Analyzes and assesses individual and / or organizational instructional system training and development needs leading to enhanced productivity and quality improvement. Coordinates, designs, and conducts responsive moderate to complex training and education programs. Develops and maintains instructional materials.

Job Summary :

Works in a collaborative environment with faculty and staff to provide support for technology enhanced teaching and learning activities delivered via face to face, blended, interactive video and online environments. Analyzes and assesses individual and / or organizational instructional system training and development needs leading to enhanced productivity and quality improvement. Coordinates, designs, and conducts responsive moderate to complex training and education programs. Develops and maintains instructional materials.

Education & Experience :

Bachelor's Degree in Instructional or Educational Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science or related field and (4) four years of related experience or equivalent combination of education / experience.

Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required :

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :

  • Knowledge of training methodology
  • Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures
  • Knowledge of instructional technology, learning management systems, and theoretical concepts related to teaching and learning using technology in a hybrid, blended or online environment
  • Experience with a variety of educational software applications
  • Knowledge of technological trends / developments
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Teaching and facilitation skills
  • Ability to determine training objectives
  • Ability to design, develop, implement and evaluate training plans, curricula, and methodology

Responsibilities :

  • Collaborate with various constituent groups to design, develop and implement new and existing strategies for effective technology use and application.
  • Understand and communicate effective teaching strategies and pedagogy appropriate for technology-enhanced teaching and learning environments.
  • Assist with faculty professional development and training.
  • Mentor faculty in the effective use of technology.
  • Conduct hands-on, face-to-face and virtual training sessions.
  • Produce instructional materials, including video, graphics, animations, and interactive media elements.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews of courses and other instructional materials.
  • Research emerging technology initiatives and trends.
  • Assist in developing evaluation tools for assessment of effectiveness of courses within the academic discipline; develop appropriate training responses to address areas of improvement.
  • Provide on-ground support for faculty and staff in the use of in-classroom and online hardware and software applications utilized within school.
  • Communicate effectively using spoken and written word, as well as digital assets. Display ability to provide documentation and information to customers and peers with clarity on the topic at hand.
