Executive Summary : HRUCKUS is seeking a Senior Linux Engineer to join our clients team in Colorado Springs, CO to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). This role is central to sustaining mission-critical cybersecurity infrastructure in a dynamic Department of Defense (DoD) environment. You will ensure operational readiness, security, and performance of cybersecurity tools, platforms, and applications while strengthening the agencys defense against evolving threats.
Position Duties :
As a Senior Linux Engineer, you will :
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (e.g., Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS) within physical and virtualized environments (e.g., VMware, RHV, Azure)
- Implement and manage system security hardening according to DISA STIGs, NIST guidelines, and DoD policies
- Perform system patching, upgrades, and vulnerability remediation in a timely and efficient manner
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize configurations for optimal performance
- Develop and maintain system documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and diagrams
- Support the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of a variety of cybersecurity tools, including but not limited to : ArcSight, Elastic, ACAS, Trellix EPP
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to cybersecurity tools, including integration challenges, performance bottlenecks, and configuration errors
- Develop and maintain scripts and automation to streamline security operations tasks and improve efficiency
- Collaborate with security analysts and incident responders to investigate and resolve security incidents
- Participate in security assessments and audits to ensure compliance with DoD regulations and security best practices
- Develop and implement security policies and procedures to protect sensitive data and systems
- Automate security tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, Ansible)
- Work closely with other engineers, analysts, and security professionals to achieve common goals
- Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers
- Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours support
