Horton, Inc., has an opening for a Mechanical Engineering Co-op at our Corporate Headquarters in Roseville, MN. Applicants must be currently pursuing a 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 2 years of school completed (Junior, Senior, Masters status) and have a 3.0 GPA or above.

Position Summary :

The Mechanical Engineering Co-op position will work in the Core Products department and will perform varied duties of a complex nature. The candidate will assist the core product development engineering department and will receive general guidance from the Manager and direct guidance from a full-time engineer / mentor. Primary responsibilities will be focused on supporting new product development and improvements to existing products. This Co-Op will be from June-December of 2024.

Responsibilities

Mechanical Engineering Co-Op Responsibilities :

  • Motivated, self-directed, and the ability to make risk balanced decisions.
  • Modeling and drafting of concepts into designs that can be tested.
  • Conducts computer aided analysis of new concepts with FEA and / or CFD.
  • Tests materials and concepts, working closely with the test lab staff to design tests and document results.
  • Develops test designs to measure the function and quality of products and to test new ideas or modifications of existing products.
  • Provides technical expertise in support of improvements to existing product designs; authorizes product design revisions.
  • Provides engineering support to the process of modification of existing products to meet customer requirements, while retaining product function and quality.
  • Other duties assigned.

Qualifications

Mechanical Engineering Co-op Qualifications :

  • Currently pursuing a 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 2 years of school completed with strong academic performance (3.0 GPA or above).
  • Junior, Senior and Master's status.
  • Demonstrated leadership, strong initiative, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-starter who can work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively across the organization\selfless, positive, get-it-done attitude.
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.
