This is your opportunity to join our dedicated OR team at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center, which is renowned for its advanced heart-care team available 24 / 7. We offer innovative care to patients locally and globally.
Schedule / Hours :
Full-time, evening shift with 8 or 10-hour shifts. Mon-Fri with majority call being overnight and 1 or 2 weekend call slots in an 8-week rotating schedule. Call hours may vary, and you are required to arrive within 30 minutes.
Major Responsibilities :
Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient surgical environment to promote optimal patient care using aseptic techniques.Prepare materials and supplies for surgical procedures, anticipating the needs of the Surgeons.Set up the operating room for each procedure and ensure the room's cleanliness and functionality.Act as a Second Assistant as necessary during surgery.Report issues with equipment or supplies promptly.Transport patients, equipment, and supplies safely.Maintain specialty carts, ensuring completeness and proper working condition.Position and transport patients with proper technique.Demonstrate knowledge of age-appropriate patient care according to established standards.Licensure, Registration, and / or Certification Required :
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association to be obtained within 6 months if not previously held.Education Required :
Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.Experience Required :
No prior experience required.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :
Understanding of aseptic surgical techniques and equipment used in the OR.Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.Basic computer proficiency.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions :
Ability to work in a high-pressure environment.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., lift up to 20 lbs. overhead, and carry 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.Ability to push / pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with assistance.Must be able to sit, stand, walk, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently.Exposed to potential hazards including mechanical, electrical, and chemical risks.This job description outlines the primary responsibilities and requirements; other tasks may be assigned as needed.
