Election Inspector

Job Summary

Election Inspectors are responsible for conducting Election Day related activities at the polling places on Election Day.

Job Duties

• Responsible for all Election Day processes laid out by Wisconsin law and Clerk Services.
• Set up, open the polls, clean up and close the polling location on Election Day.
• Register qualified voters of the municipality.
• Record voter participation in the poll books, check proof of identification, issue ballots and inform voters of the proper balloting procedure.
• Determine acceptability of absentee ballots, record data and process absentee ballots as prescribed by law.
• Tabulate write-in votes, maintain ballot security and complete all necessary forms by the end of night, with accuracy and legibility.
• Assist voters and provide instruction as necessary.
• Promote and maintain a positive public relation with not only staff but community members, preserving order at the polling place at all times.
• Commit to maintaining the amount of training hours determined by Clerk Services.
• Report for duty between one to four times per year and special elections as required. Must be available to work the entire Election Day, generally from 6 : 30 a.m. until approximately 9 p.m. or later.
