Position Description
Investigate the growth, structure, development, and other characteristics of
microscopic organisms, such as bacteria, or fungi in agriculture and study the
relationship between organisms and disease or the effects of antibiotics on plants,
soil, and roots.

Key responsibilities and accontabilities
1. Isolate and maintain cultures of bacteria or other microorganisms in prescribed or
developed media for further study.
2. Study growth, structure, development, and general characteristics of bacteria and
other microorganisms to understand their relationship to plants.
3. Use bioreactors and understand biotechnology process in order to obtain data to
produce bacteria and fungus.
4. Conduct long term studies to determine product quality over shelf-life.
5. Develop new and adapt existing methodologies.
6. Differentiate and quantify bacteria as well as other microorganisms using
selective media and other techniques.
7. Research use of bacteria and microorganisms to develop new products and new
technologies.
8. Summarize and communicate results and conclusions in a concise and timely
manner.
9. Evaluate data for accuracy and precision.
10. Provide technical support and services for scientists and agricultural personnel.
Additional responsibilities may be added at the discretion of management.
Minimum Qualifications :
Four-year bachelor's degree in microbiology. One to three years of industry
experience is preferred.
