Assignment Length : 13 Weeks

On-Call : 23 days per week (weekday and weekend)

Weekends / Holidays : As needed

Job Summary

The Surgical Tech I is responsible for cleaning organizing and handling surgical instruments in accordance with established policies and procedures. This role supports efficient operating room operations ensures proper sterilization and decontamination of equipment and assists in maintaining high-quality patient care.

Essential Job Functions

Follow standardized set-up policies and utilize surgeon preference cards; organize and return instrumentation to designated areas.

Maintain correct counts for sponges needles instruments and accurately label medications as per policy.

Handle surgical specimens in accordance with O.R. procedures.

Control contamination and perform decontamination disinfection sterilization and sanitation of instruments and equipment.

Remove used equipment and dispose of contaminated needles syringes and waste properly.

Participate in team conferences to plan and evaluate patient care; assist the circulator with revising care plans as needed.

Maintain an updated skills proficiency checklist for specialty areas.

Lift at least 50 lbs push / pull up to 400 lbs and stand for the duration of the shift.

Provide care tailored to the diverse needs of the patient population (age culture communication needs impairments etc.).

Follow organizational competency standards.

Education Requirements

Required :

Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program or equivalent training program.

Preferred :

Professional certification by AST (Association of Surgical Technologists).

Experience Requirements

Minimum 23 years of experience as a Surgical Technician (required).

Prior Endoscopy experience required.

Must have experience with bronchoscopy ERCP EUS and scope processing.
