RSI, recently acquired by Trinity Industries, INC is hiring a Freight Accounting Administrator for our Okemos, MI HQ!

The FAA is responsible for the accuracy of all railroad and terminal expenses accrued and then paid. This includes a high volume of invoicing and audit of said invoices.

Essential Responsibilities :

  • Receive and respond to all calls from railroads (RR) concerning accounts payable.
  • Balance weekly draft summaries with specific railroads and miscellaneous vendors.
  • For all other railroads, monitor and track what should, or should not be paid on a weekly basis.
  • Follow standard processes to audit all freight and miscellaneous invoices for accuracy, on a daily, weekly basis.
  • Notify the railroad of any discrepancies in a bill, and address any differences before the invoice due date.
  • Identify past-due invoices or lists from the railroad. Verify existence and accuracy. Solve any discrepancies.
  • Locate bills of lading for customers, railroad, and salesmen.
  • Reconcile any errors found in railroad payables.
  • Prepare all necessary documentation and submit a claim to the railroad.
  • Update the claim database and inform the Accounting Manager of the filed claim.
  • Responsible for keeping good relations with the Company’s railroad vendors by gaining an understanding of what each vendor needs.

Education & Experience :

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience with auditing and analyzing data.
  • Top Candidates will provide the following :

  • Highly Proficient with all technology : MS Office 365, specifically EXCEL - the advanced ability to learn new software, specifically RSI Proprietary software
  • Must be an agile team player, as well as, self-dependent to complete large quantity of work and ever-changing priorities with an excellent handle on time management, prioritization, multi-tasking, and follow-through
  • Must be able to self-manage; comfortable meeting deadlines
  • Proficient skills in technology and process automation
  • Accuracy in working with big data, large spreadsheets, and analysis of numbers
  • Ability to hold themselves to high professional standards
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Ability to improvise
  • Good phone etiquette
  • Ability to communicate both written and orally
