The telecommunications team at MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital has a PRN opening. The Telecommunications Operator is the first point of contact for callers and will provide general information. This department is open 24 / 7 and the ideal candidate will have open availability to fill in as needed.

Status : PRN (as-needed)

Schedule : Work schedule will vary, flexible availability required to cover day, evening, overnight, and weekend shifts as needed

PRN positions are generally not eligible for benefits.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Answers all incoming calls to the facility with courtesy and efficiency.
• Provides courteous and efficient communication within the hospital and information about the network to the customer.
• Takes ownership of a complaint and facilitates immediate service recovery.
• Relays incoming, outgoing and interoffice telephone calls in a timely, professional manner.
• Maintains an orderly flow of internal communications within the hospital and meets any crisis which may arise.
• Takes messages and relays them when necessary.
• Responsible for recording and reporting communication system malfunctions to the director or appropriate vendor in the absence of the director to ensure timely repair.
• Responds to alarms located in the service area.
• Knows staff / personnel functions to be able to direct callers in a prompt, knowledgeable and effective manner.
