Chowan County is accepting applications for an Animal Shelter Director to plan, develop, organize, supervise and manage the activities of the Animal Shelter Department including but not limited to shelter services, education services, and public relations; prepares, administers, and monitors departmental budget. Requires comprehensive knowledge of principles and practices of the animal shelter; rules regulations, policies and procedures of County ordinances pertaining to the animal shelter; thorough knowledge of administrative practices and procedures; budgetary process and fiscal management; information systems and techniques for data analysis; ability to analyze and interpret complex information, regulations, and policies; ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing; ability to attend work regularly; ability to safely and efficiently operate a motor vehicle; excellent interpersonal skills. Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to Associate's degree in business administration or related field, and considerable experience in animal shelter operations including supervisory experience. Must possess an appropriate valid North Carolina driver's license. Pre-employment drug screen required.
