Stroke Analyst - (RN)

Responsibilities

As a Stroke Analyst you will :

• Identifies cases for review utilizing approved medical and hospital staff criteria / indicators. Is able to network with the clinical areas and Health Information Management to facilitiate this process.
• Creates a consise clinical abstract that includes pertinent elements in keeping with the identified reason for review and / or potential quality concerns. Is familiar with the physiologic norms of all age groups, using references appropriately.
• Understands the inter-relationship between performance improvement activities and those of other areas within the facility, including clinical departments, infection control, risk management, health information, and the medical staff. Effects appropriate referrals when indicated.
• Analyzes stroke data to provide both routine and adhoc reports of Stroke statistics and performance improvement and patient safety audits / filters to the Stroke Program Manager for but not limited to : monthly performance improvement meetings and stroke operational meetings, routine volume reporting, statistics, trends in audit filters, loop closure evaluation and opportunities for improvement, education, financial analysis, stroke audit committee, external oversight : The Joint Commission, CMS, and Riverside County EMS Agency, .
• Responsibility for multiple patient care types.
• Aids in the preparation for The Joint Commission Stroke Surveys. and / or the Riverside County EMS Agency Stroke survey.
• Develops and reports stroke audit filter information to the Stroke Committee and Stroke PI Committee, as appropriate.
• Performs chart reviews for those stroke patients meeting criteria for PI / Peer Review.
• Prepares the cases for review for the multidisciplinary peer review meetings.
• Responsible for maintaining the tracking system for case review, audit filters, PI, and peer review reports.
• Submits the required data elements to the Riverside County stroke registry as required by state statute

It is Southwest Riverside County's only designated Trauma Center and a county-designated Paramedic Base Station. The hospital performs more than 4,000 surgeries a year, and has an average of 4,000 Emergency Department visits per month. The hospital features a Bariatric Weight-Loss Surgery Center of Excellence and the region's only Total Joint Center.

Southwest Healthcare Rancho Springs Hospital in Murrieta, California , is a 120 bed acute-care hospital with the region's only Pediatric Emergency Services team (for children 14 and under) provided by board certified Rady Children's emergency medicine physicians. Rancho Springs Hospital also provides the area's only OB / Emergency Department program, which gives expectant mothers 24 / 7 on-site access to OB / GYN physician coverage. The Childbirth Center at Rancho Springs Hospital is the largest in the region and features spacious family-friendly private suites. Rancho's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is operated by Rady Children's.

Qualifications

3-5 years year recent Acute Care Hospital Experience

Completion of an accredited Registered Nursing program.

BSN Preferred

REQUIRED LICENSURE / CERTIFICATIONS

Registered Nurse with current California RN license.

BLS (AHA) certification.

ACLS (AHA) certification.
