An established engineering firm is seeking a DCS Software Engineer with experience in ABB 800xA for a hybrid position based in Baltimore, MD. This role supports both project-based software development and on-site support at a major municipal facility.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on programming experience with DCS platforms, HMI development, and troubleshooting in a plant environment.
Key Responsibilities :
Develop and modify control logic and HMI interfaces using ABB DCS 800xA
Provide on-site support and troubleshooting for DCS systems at a municipal facility
Participate in developing and implementing new processes within the plant control systems
Work on both project side (remote ABB programming, HMI development) and service side (on-site issue resolution)
Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and plant personnel to deliver automation solutions
Assist with commissioning and integration of systems
Required Qualifications :
Hands-on experience with ABB 800xA (or comparable DCS platforms like DeltaV)
Proficiency in DCS programming and HMI development
Ability to write logic from scratch and troubleshoot system issues
Comfortable with hybrid work (remote and local on-site support in Baltimore, MD)
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience in water / wastewater or municipal utility projects
2–4 year degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
Familiarity with Allen-Bradley PLCs and SCADA integration concepts
