Job Type : Full-Time (Monday Friday 0730-1600 with hour lunch)

Nature Of Work

Individual will be responsible for answering and screening incoming phone calls and courteously and accurately respond to phone requests and walk-in inquiries in the property division. Receive inmate property through public property window; package outgoing inmate property; place inmate property in assigned inmate bins; pick up, sort, label with housing assignments, open, inspect, write up restricted mail and deliver inmate mail, newspapers, books and magazines; assist in maintaining computerized informational databases and related work as required. May have limited inmate contact.

Minimum Requirements

High school or GED plus six (6) months experience in fields providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities such as clerical work.

Special Requirements

All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and / or City-wide emergencies. Must be available to work overtime when required to meet operational needs. Successful completion of application, oral interview, of a police background investigation, including polygraph examination.

Preference

Prefer individual with one (1) year experience of clerical work with above average oral and written communication and customer service skills. Individuals who demonstrate respect, integrity and strong interpersonal skills, ability to relate to individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Physical Requirement

Must be able to stand for long periods, climb stairs, and lift small packages (30 lbs. or less). Requires sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis and routine keyboard operations.
