Environmental Chemistry and Biotechnology

A research project led by Dr. Yen-Jung Sean Lai at Biodesign Swette Center for Environmental Biotechnology, Arizona State University, is seeking a PhD student to work on membrane-based catalytic and biological processes for carbon dioxide valorization. The project focuses on developing novel and robust catalysts and on integrating biotic processes to valorize C1 compounds. The student will develop catalytic processes for CO2 conversion and engineer the process for scale?up, offering a unique opportunity to work with an interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

Develop catalytic processes for CO2 conversion and scale?up engineering. Collaborate with a team on membrane?based catalytic and biological processes. Contribute to publishing peer?reviewed papers.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Environmental Science or Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Biotechnology, or related fields with a strong chemistry background.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team setting.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience publishing in peer?reviewed journals (advantageous).
