Summary

This role involves functioning as an emergency response medical professional who delivers immediate medical care to individuals facing accidents, violence, or sudden illnesses, such as heart attacks or strokes. You will provide pre-hospital and intra-hospital advanced life support care from first contact until the patient is transferred to the accepting medical facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent the ambulance service at public service functions, events, and provide stand-by services as needed.
• Document complete assessments and treatments using patient care charting software.
• Cater to patients in psychiatric, medical, and traumatic crises by providing appropriate medical and therapeutic services.
• Collaborate with a fellow crew member to respond to emergency and non-emergency calls.
• Operate advanced life support equipment, including resuscitators, defibrillators, and electrocardiograms.
• Assess the nature and extent of injuries or illnesses to prioritize and implement necessary medical procedures.
• Follow dispatcher guidelines to drive and operate emergency vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Administer medications under physician direction, through injections, intravenous procedures, or orally.
• Communicate with medical professionals at treatment facilities for further instructions regarding patient care.
• Thoroughly clean and decontaminate the ambulance post-transport for patients with infectious diseases and report these cases as required.

Lift over 50 lbs. Push / pull up to 140 lbs. Carry 80 lbs. short distances. Frequent standing / walking, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and reaching overhead.
