Our busy, well-established practice is seeking a professional Front Desk Medical Assistant to be the welcoming face of our healthcare team.
Position Overview
We are looking for an organized and personable Front Desk Medical Assistant to manage patient interactions, scheduling, and administrative duties in our fast-paced orthopaedic office. This role is essential to ensuring smooth operations and exceptional patient experiences from check-in to check-out.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors in a professional, friendly manner
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments efficiently
- Check patients in and out of the system
- Collect patient copays, deductibles, and outstanding balances
- Verify insurance coverage and obtain authorizations
- Update patient demographic and insurance information
- Answer multi-line phone system and direct calls appropriately
- Coordinate referrals to other healthcare providers
- Manage patient records and maintain confidentiality (HIPAA compliance)
- Process patient registration forms and consent documents
- Handle appointment cancellations and rescheduling
- Assist with insurance claims and billing inquiries
- Maintain organized filing systems and office supplies
- Support other administrative tasks as needed

Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent requiredMedical Assistant certification or healthcare administrative experience preferredMinimum 1-2 years of front desk or customer service experienceStrong knowledge of medical terminologyExperience with electronic health records (EHR) and practice management systemsProficiency with insurance verification and prior authorization processesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong organizational and multitasking abilitiesProfessional phone etiquette and customer service skillsBilingual (English / Spanish) preferred but not requiredProficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteEssential Skills
