Job Summary
The Program Director, Global Risk Management oversees strategic risk management initiatives specifically tailored to support and enhance the university’s robust international education and experiential learning programs. Reporting directly to the Executive Director of International Education, this position plays a critical role in safeguarding the health, safety, and security of over 10,000 international students and thousands of faculty, staff, and affiliates engaging in university-sponsored travel annually. Looking for an experienced leader to proactively develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive policies and procedures to effectively address emerging global challenges. The Director will collaborate extensively across the institution, ensuring alignment with UTA’s strategic vision of fostering global engagement, enhancing educational accessibility, and supporting innovative international programming. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and lead UTA’s comprehensive global risk management strategy, encompassing policy formulation, protocol establishment, and continuous evaluation.
- Lead the university’s response to global emergencies, including oversight of emergency response plans, incident management, and 24 / 7 crisis response.
- Chair committees and working groups related to international travel safety and risk management.
- Conduct risk assessments, including site inspections, to ensure the safety and suitability of international programs and partnerships.
- Oversee university-wide international insurance policies, negotiate contracts, and manage external vendor relationships.
- Develop, implement, and deliver robust training and resources for faculty, staff, and students engaged in international travel.
- Serve as Incident Commander during global emergencies, coordinating comprehensive response strategies and communications.
- Regularly communicate critical risk information, policy updates, and best practices to UTA’s senior leadership, academic units, and the broader campus community.
- Maintain compliance with all relevant federal, state, and international regulations.
- Continuously improve risk management processes through innovative practices and technological solutions.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.Five (5) years of professional experience in global safety, international risk management, emergency management, or related fields.Proven experience working within a large, varied university or similar complex organizational structure.Demonstrated leadership experience in managing crises, emergency preparedness planning, and international incident management.Proficient in developing and implementing global risk and insurance programs in higher education.Familiarity with international regulatory compliance, safety protocols, and global risk assessment.Track record of successful collaboration with internal and external partners, including academic departments, government agencies, NGOs, and private sector entities.Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree.Professional certifications such as ARM, CRM, CRMP, or CPCU preferred.Multilingual proficiency desirable.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
