Minimum 1-3 years of proven experience in a technical support Background Investigation Clearance : Ability to successfully pass a background investigation. Successfully completed the necessary training Statement of Responsibility (SOR) Acknowledgment : Willingness and ability to sign a Statement of Responsibility confirming adherence to applicable Rules of Behavior and other Information Security policies. Must qualify for and maintain clearance for unsupervised access to USGS systems. This includes, but is not limited to, basic network, internet, or email access, as well as access for IT Support services, custom application development / maintenance, and IT system management / oversight (both on-site and off-site). Provide Tier 1 & 2 Help Desk Support : Serve as the primary point of contact for federal employees and contractors, resolving a wide range of technical issues related to desktop equipment, software (Windows, Mac, Linux), and peripherals. Diagnose and fix hardware, software, network, and system performance issues, escalating complex problems to appropriate specialists when necessary. Perform setup, installation, and configuration of new computers, servers, workstations, and software applications. Assist with user account setup, administration, and access control for various IT systems. Provide support for the maintenance of operating systems, common-use software, and peripheral devices. Perform and maintain required file backups to ensure data integrity and prevent loss. Assist in monitoring the health and performance of computer systems and networks, addressing minor issues proactively. Maintain clear and accurate documentation of IT procedures, troubleshooting steps, and operational logs. Coordinate or assist in providing technical instruction and support for both EROS-developed and vendor-supplied software systems.
