Job Title : Senior ITS Consultant - Database SRE
Location : Orlando, Florida USA
Travel : 25%
Job description :
- Database Management : Ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of database systems.
- Monitoring and Incident Response : Develop and implement monitoring solutions to detect and respond to database-related issues promptly.
- Performance Tuning : Optimize database performance through tuning queries, indexes, and configurations.
- Automation : Automate repetitive tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
- Planning : Forecast database capacity needs and plan for future growth.
- Backup and Recovery : Implement and manage backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Security : Ensure database security by implementing standard processes and regular audits.
- Collaboration : Work closely with development teams to design and implement database solutions that meet application requirements.
- Documentation : Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and policies.
Key Responsibilities :
Incident Management : Respond to and resolve database-related incidents and outages.Performance Analysis : Analyze database performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.Automation : Develop and maintain scripts and tools to automate database management tasks.Build self-service tools for engineers to manage databases efficientlyProvide guidance on database design, query optimization, and schema changes to engineering teamsCollaboration : Participate in design and code reviews with development teams to ensure database standard processes are followed.Maintenance : Perform regular maintenance tasks such as backups, patching, and upgrades.Reporting : Generate reports on database performance, incidents, and planning.Required Skills :
o Proficiency in database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, DB2).
o Strong knowledge of SQL and database performance tuning.
o Experience with database monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana).
o Familiarity with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
o Understanding of backup and recovery strategies.
o Knowledge of database security standard processes.
o Relevant certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified : Azure Database Administrator) are a plus.

o Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
o Attention to detail and a proactive approach to database management.
Desired Skills :
7+ years of database management experience in a global enterprise environment.Ability to work in a 24x7 on-call after hour rotation environment.Advocate for DevOps / SRE standard processes, leading postmortems / RCAs, incident retrospectives, and operational readiness reviews.Relevant experience with following products is a plus : InnoDB and MyISAM storage engines; SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS.Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (or equivalent) in computer science or related subject area.Life at Capgemini
