Hybrid : This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren, Michigan three times per week.
Role
This individual will be responsible for throughput analysis and simulation of new Vehicle programs throughout all phases of the Global Vehicle Development Process (GVDP). This individual will collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering (ME) centers in the design and optimization of current and future manufacturing systems and will support plants in throughput improvement initiatives.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
- Implement simulation deliverables for assigned new / major Vehicle programs.
- Optimally run experiments / analysis, interpret results, and generate standard reports
- Respond to throughput simulation pulls from assigned manufacturing facilities
- Support ME innovation and continuous improvement initiatives
- Extract necessary inputs from Manufacturing Planning & Engineering documents
- Interface with Execution and Process Leads to support total plant throughput strategy
- Coordinate with MSIE, GA, Conveyor, and IE for target setting
- Utilize and contribute to the improvement of standardized work
- Deliver results to customers
- Interface with execution / process teams for validating / updating Phase 0 Data Sets
- Support development / refinement of station level data
- Occasional travel (up to 20%)
- Support MPS with BEC-based throughput simulation and mentor others in the process.
- Facilitate new vehicle programs through the GVDP by utilizing workbook-based Level 3 throughput simulation models with the GA dataset and instruct others in the methodology.
- Conduct custom studies to assist new vehicle programs, execution teams, and manufacturing plants while providing guidance to others.
- Troubleshoot and debug throughput simulation models, offering training to others in the process.
- Travel to plant sites, as necessary.
- Document and share lessons learned to enhance team performance.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree in engineering2+ years of engineering or manufacturing experienceBasic knowledge of principles and concepts that can be applied to throughput requirementsHigh level of communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to meet deadlines while keeping organized amidst varying projects and multi-plant assignmentsHigh level of analytical ability where problems are complexExperience in either Vehicle or GPS manufacturing facilitiesExperience with the Throughput Improvement Process (TIP), methods and toolsExperience applying Theory of Constraints to improve manufacturing processesExperience with discrete event simulation softwareExperience writing code in VBA or Plant SimulationExperience with statisticsProficient in translating plant layouts into simulation models using AutoDesk Design Review and AutoCAD.Skilled in throughput simulation software, including CDraw2 and Plant Simulation.Strong oral and written communication skills.Excellent people skills to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.Knowledge of GA processes.High level of creativity in design projects.Ability to exercise independent judgment and work autonomously.Capacity to teach and mentor others effectively.Contribute to the documentation of best practices.
