Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position in an acute care setting with night shifts and advanced fetal monitoring requirements.
Responsibilities
Work in a Labor & Delivery unit within an acute care hospital17 L&D beds, 2 OR suites for C-sections, 4 triage beds, and 16 postpartum bedsLevel 3 high-risk facility with approximately 250 births per monthPatient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines : 2 : 1 for normal laboring, 1 : 1 for high risk, 4 : 1 for couplet care, 2 : 1–4 : 1 for antepartum based on acuityResponsible for circulating and recovering own C-section patientsRequired to titrate drips including Magnesium Sulfate, Pitocin, Insulin, and HeparinCerner EMR is used; experience requiredNight shift position, 12-hour shifts, every other weekend requiredFloating to postpartum as needed; no on-call requirementNurses are supported by certified surgical techs and secretaries as ancillary staffOB / Neonatologist and anesthesia coverage are in-house 24 / 7Navy blue scrubs required in L&D; light blue OR scrubs provided when neededThree-day orientation to the unit provided for travelersHoliday coverage may be required as neededFirst-time travelers will be consideredMust reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for a travel contractRequirements
Active NV RN license required at time of consideration; no pending licenses acceptedMinimum 2 years recent L&D experience requiredCertifications required : BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NRP, AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM)Ability to independently and confidently perform vaginal exams, internal monitor placement, and manage high risk labor and antepartum patientsCompetence in reading fetal monitor strips and titrating common OB dripsAbility to float to postpartum and take assignments as neededCopy of driver’s license required for considerationSubmission of two professional references : one supervisor from within last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within last three years, both with employment dates and rehire eligibilityCandidates may not have been employed directly by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past yearBenefits
