About the Role

The position reports to the Executive Credit Officer for Commercial Real Estate and is responsible for monitoring the quality and performance of the bank’s (credit) portfolio(s) and advising line partners on strategies to protect bank capital, Reviews, approves, declines, or recommends credit applications within assigned approval limits in accordance with the banks’ lending policies and guidelines; with a primary focus on Commercial Real Estate lending, including but not limited to : homebuilder finance, affordable housing, and large scale construction and term lending. Develops partnerships with other business line leaders for mutual goal attainment and coordination on mutual priorities.Contributes thought leadership for Credit Quality Administration and may act as delegate on behalf of the department when needed.

  • Collaborate with bankers to develop high quality loan portfolios and service client relationships. Review, approve, decline, or recommend credit facilities.Administer and review loans and loan commitments within assigned authorities.May contribute to the development of credit policies, processes, and methodologies.
  • Oversee the management of delinquent loans, ensuring that bankers are making appropriate contact with past due accounts. Oversee completion and accuracy of monthly past due-loan reports and problem loan reports by bankers and ensures timely submission to Credit Quality Administration.Consult with and serves as a resource for bankers regarding complex loan transactions and documentation.
  • Monitor and verify risk rating accuracy on delinquent loans and those submitted for approval. Advises bankers on the risk rating process and ensures timely documentation of migrations.
  • Review credit recommendations for accuracy and coaches the banking staff in the development of complete, accurate and well-structured credit recommendations.
  • Provide guidance and advice to the banking staff on financial analysis, loan structuring and other credit related considerations. Ensure lending staff is aware of all relevant changes in credit requirements.
  • Engage with external clients, prospects, and banking staff providing experienced perspective regarding risk identification, mitigation, and loan structuring. Provide strong and consistent credit leadership.
  • Develop enhanced skill set(s) in areas requiring specialty lending expertise and demonstrate functional knowledge in a broad range of commercial credit. Leverage experience to support partners and team members identification and mitigation of risks associated with areas requiring expertise.
  • Review reports and other documentation as required including, but not limited to, quarterly problem loan reports, upgrade / downgrade reports, concentration reports, and credit examination and audit reports.
  • Assist and take a leadership role in formulating action plans to address marginal to unsatisfactory credit.
  • Make recommendations to senior management regarding changes in the company’s credit / loan policies to reduce risk, and / or in adjusting to current market conditions.
  • Uses sound judgement and decision-making capabilities under Senior Credit Officer authority delegation.
  • May act as a lead, providing guidance and mentoring to junior members of the team.

About You :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, General Management or combination of college level education and banking experience. Required.
  • Graduate of Pacific Coast Banking School (PCBS), Omega Commercial Lending School. Preferred.
  • 7-10 years of Commercial lending experience and strong credit analysis skills, demonstrating a knowledge of industry best practices and financial concepts. Required.
  • Advanced analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills; comfortable dealing with a large span of people across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong communication skills – verbal, listening, written, and presentation.
  • Strong financial business acumen and ability to interpret and understand of financial reports and presentations regrading credit portfolio performance.
  • Strong understanding of market orientation - uses knowledge effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to train and present to small and large audiences or has interest and ability to learn to train and present.
  • Strong computer skills including use of the Microsoft Office suite and ability to learn new business software as needed.
  • Ability to lead complex projects – prioritizing deliverables and meeting various timelines as defined by the organization.
  • Ability to understand and navigate the social and / or political dynamics within the organization through the executive level.
  • Ability to stay current on legal and regulatory requirements applicable to the bank’s portfolio.

    Our Benefits :

    We offer a competitive total rewards package including base wages and comprehensive benefits. The pay range for this role is $127,000.00-$210,000.00 and the pay rate for the selected candidate is dependent upon a variety of non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, education, and geographic location. The role may be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation and those details will be provided during the recruitment process.
