Architect - Workplace
NELSON's Workplace Practice is seeking a creative, innovative, licensed Architect with Corporate Interiors experience to lead and execute a broad range of projects through the design process, production of construction documents and construction administration. The Architect will also be responsible for developing solutions to technical problems, assisting multiple interiors projects for code compliance / review at schematic and CD phases, QAQC of CDs. Ability to work hybrid / in-person in Minneapolis is strongly preferred.

Required Knowledge and Skills :

Leadership :
Assist project team with design and technical questions during the projectShare knowledge with the entire studio and be a resource to the entire NELSON staffBe a mentor to staff, including InternsContribute as a Team Leader, on an as needed basis as it relates to individual performance & development within the project teamEmbrace specific steps to create, develop and promote a diverse workforce and to promote an inclusive environmentProject Delivery :
Assist with proposal and contract documentsBring solutions to code and life safety issues that arise on projects to align with client goalsPrepare and oversee the preparation of Concept, Schematic Design, Design Development and Construction Documents using software skills listed aboveConduct field surveys as requiredDevelop and / or oversee the development of design concepts into complete design development set and further advance into complete construction drawingsAssist designers and project managers material research and compilation of project data and incorporation throughout the projectPrepare project specifications- review as it relates to QAQCCommunicate with project team members and resolve drawing discrepancies independentlyCoordinate and incorporate work of internal and external project consultantsOversee the preparation of Addenda and Bulletin documentationReview Shop DrawingsSign and seal drawingsAssist team in answering RFIs (in regards to constructability, detailing, and code compliance)Attend construction meetings, make periodic site observation visits as required by contractAdhere to NELSON standards in the preparation of deliverablesReview and correct your own work and work of the project team including both internal and external consultants following established QA proceduresReview and understand applicable building codes and other standards (including Accessibility Standards)Prepare zoning and building code analysis and reviewAssist with the timely submittal of drawings to the appropriate authorities having jurisdictionUnderstand project scope and identify items that are beyond the original scope of services and bring to attention of project leadPrepare meeting agendas, meeting minutes, phone conversation notes, to document the progress of the project and directions received from the ClientAttend project meetingsShare knowledge with other teammates and assist team with design and / or detailing challengesClient Relationships :
Maintain secondary client contact as back up to primaryJoin client meetings on occasion to support project lead in adherence to & solutions regarding code compliance, constructability, in effort to meet project goalsBusiness Development :
Assist in secondary marketing by maintaining good working relationships with ClientAttend interviews as requested by project lead, Studio or Market LeadersContinuing Education and Professional Development :
Maintain licensure by fulfilling continuing education requirementsContinuously enhance skills in required software by attending in-house training and working on billable projectsEnhance management and communication skillsQualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Architecture from an accredited University7+ years' experience working in the field of ArchitectureExperience in Corporate environmentsStrong knowledge in Revit and AutoCAD. Basic knowledge of Deltek / VantagePoint, MS Project, and Newforma preferredStrong leadership, organization, communication and relationship management skillsEmbrace specific steps to create, develop and promote a diverse workforce and to promote an inclusive environmentArchitectural license in at least one (1) stateNational salary range : $80,000 $150,000 (7+ years experience). Additional compensation includes bonuses and benefits (compensation factors are based upon years of relevant experience, qualifications / licensure, education, and location.)
