Part-Time Afterschool Educator (Durham, NC)

We offer a Montessori-inspired early childhood program and project-based learning for older students, combining strong academic foundations with real-world skills.

We are excited to launch our first campus in Durham, NC in Fall 2025. As a founding team member, you’ll play an important role in shaping our community.

About the Role

We are hiring a Part-Time Afterschool Educator to design and lead safe, engaging afterschool programming for children ages 4–7. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about early childhood education, afterschool care, and creative learning.

Responsibilities

  • Lead developmentally appropriate activities for small, mixed-age groups
  • Foster a safe, nurturing, and fun afterschool environment
  • Provide and supervise healthy snacks
  • Coordinate daily student pick-up and family communications
  • Keep accurate records of attendance, incidents, and daily activities
  • Respond effectively to emergencies and uphold safety procedures

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience working with children in educational, childcare, or camp settings
  • Current First Aid / CPR certification (or willingness to obtain before start date)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to manage small groups independently
  • Reliable, self-directed, and comfortable working with minimal supervision
  • Ability to pass a background check and provide references

    • Preferred :

  • Montessori training or certification (AMI, AMS, NAMC)
  • Bilingual skills or experience serving multilingual families
  • Degree or certification in early childhood education or related field

  • Schedule : Monday–Friday, 2 : 00–6 : 00 PM (20 hours / week)
  • Start Date : September 8, 2025
  • Compensation : $18–22 / hour, based on experience
  • Location : Durham, NC (in-person role required)
