Job Summary :
The Chief Hospital Informatics Officer (CHIO) at Arizona State Hospital will lead the strategic development and operational management of all clinical informatics initiatives to improve patient care, safety, and hospital efficiency. The CHIO will serve as the bridge between clinical care teams, IT departments, and hospital administration, ensuring that technology and data systems effectively support clinical workflows, regulatory compliance, and organizational goals.
This position will oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of informatics solutions that enhance patient care quality, safety, and outcomes. Additionally, they will ensure interoperability of clinical systems and promote standardization of clinical data to support analytics and regulatory reporting.
The CHIO will act as the liaison between clinical staff (physicians, nurses, therapists), IT teams, and administrative departments to ensure informatics tools meet end-user needs which will include responsibilities in ensuring proper training and change management. Additionally, this role will be responsible for working with financial services and managing the budget for the section.
Job Duties :
Lead digital transformation initiatives, including Electronic Health Record (EHR) optimization, data analytics and clinical decision support tools.
Collaborate with senior leadership to integrate informatics into clinical, operational, and financial decision-making processes.
Provide training, support, and change management leadership to clinical teams adopting new technologies and workflows.
Manage and mentor the clinical informatics team, fostering professional development and collaborative performance.
Other duties as assigned as related to the position (typically 5% - 10%)

Pre-Employment Requirements :
Bachelor's degree in informatics, or related field and 3 - 5 years applied hospital experience or equivalent course work. Masters degree may substitute for 1 year experience.

Retirement :
To help you build a financially secure future, the State makes monthly contributions to finance your retirement benefit.
