The Hospice Assistant Clinical Director will support the Clinical Director in managing clinical operations and providing high-quality end-of-life care. The Assistant Clinical Director will help ensure compliance with regulatory standards, enhance team performance, and promote a patient-centered approach to hospice care.
Schedule : M-F (8 : 30am-5pm) and rotating Manager on Duty
Primary Responsibilities and Duties :
- Assist the Clinical Director in overseeing daily operations of the hospice team, ensuring quality care and regulatory compliance.
- Support the management of clinical staff, providing mentorship, training, and guidance in best practices for patient care.
- Collaborate with medical directors, nursing staff, clinical director, and other health care team members to develop and evaluate patient care plans.
- Conduct regular clinical audits and reviews to ensure adherence to quality standards and best practices.
- Assist in the development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures to enhance service delivery.
- Provide ongoing education and training for clinical staff on new policies, procedures, and care techniques.
- Act as a liaison between patients, families, and the clinical team, addressing concerns and facilitating communication.
- Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and advancements with hospice care
- Ensure clinical team is accurately documenting care provided and reporting any significant changes in the patient’s condition. This includes noting exact medication and care provided with the date and time for insurance purposes and appropriate quality of care to patients.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control measures.
- Collaborate with family members and health care team to ensure continuity of care.
- Adhere to infection control and safety procedures to protect patients and staff.
- Perform all other duties assigned.
Requirements : Job Qualifications :
Bachelors’ degree in Nursing, or related fieldCurrent Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state where work is performed.1+ years clinical experience in hospice.Previous leadership or management experience preferred.Strong understanding of Medicare / Medicaid regulations and hospice standards.Strong clinical skills and the ability to perform a range of nursing tasks with sensitivity and compassion.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability interact effectively with patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals.Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.Ability to build rapport with patients through a compassionate and caring demeanor.Physical Requirements :
Ability to lift and transfer patients, or medical equipment with or without assistance, up to 50lbs on occasion.Capability to perform physical tasks such as bending, standing, walking, and climbing stairs for extended periods.Strength to handle medical equipment and assist patients with mobility and physical activities.Visual acuity and dexterity for performing tasks such as reading medical records, administering injections, and handling medical instruments.Ability to respond swiftly and efficiently to emergency situations.Capacity to work in various home environments which may include navigating stairs, tight spaces, or uneven surfaces.Maintain regular attendance and timeliness as set forth within the work schedule designated by the department supervisor / manager.Job requires accepting criticism and dealing calmly and effectively with high-stress situations.The ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without "giving out" or fatiguing.
