POSITION SUMMARY :

Primary objective is to provide unmatched customer experiences and demonstrate JCI's Winning Behaviors that influence a positive culture, safety-first attitude, relationship building, and impacts revenue growth and profitability. The Service Manager provides oversite for the field service group for maintenance / preventative maintenance / electrical and millwright-type functions. This includes knowledge of rotating equipment assembly / disassembly, basic equipment maintenance, rotating equipment alignments, basic electrical troubleshooting, and control panel startups, setting adjustments, and troubleshooting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Fleet Management.
  • Multi-tasking.

  • General to advanced Windows-based computer skills.
  • Heavy construction experience preferred.
  • Estimating experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding of prints, CAD, drawings.
  • Basic understanding of precision measurements.
  • Basic understanding of electrical, including controls.
  • Lead safety meetings.
  • Scheduling for jobs, tasks, meetings.
  • Request parts pricing.
  • Communicating with vendors.
  • Contract review.
  • Create SOW, and T&C's.
  • Contribute or provide training including task specific and safety.
  • DOT regulated truck management experience preferred.
  • Work across all branches, BU's, and segments.
  • HR required tasks.
  • Fleet management.
  • Capex requests.
  • Document submittals, controls, tracking.
  • Coordinating calibrations on testing equipment.
  • Equipment purchasing.
  • PPE / Uniform management.
  • Job / bid walks.
  • Department Financial Responsibility.
  • Departmental growth initiatives.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES :

  • Know how to read precision measuring devices, such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Strong sense of urgency and keen attention to detail in aspects of the job.
  • Able to understand what to wear for personal protection equipment, including a respirator as necessary.
  • Ability to work overtime when needed.
  • Ability to maintain an inventory of supplies carried on company-supplied work truck.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Fundamental understanding of rotating equipment, fabrication / manufacturing of equipment and machine shop practices.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a constructive and timely manner.
  • Show competency at filling in paperwork and communicating effectively, and understanding exploded diagrams or cross-sectional drawings.
  • Good communication skills with others by telephone, written documents or in person.
  • Ability to interact with customers and co-workers and subordinates in a pleasant and professional manner.
  • REQUIREMENTS :

  • High School or equivalent, with mechanical aptitude and skills.
  • 5 years minimum of Field Service management with emphasis on rotating equipment repair, maintenance, and / or preventative maintenance preferred but not required.
  • Able to obtain MEC (Medical Examiner's Certificate) under DOT as a ‘non-CDL' commercial motor vehicle driver.
  • Maintain clean driving record.
  • Ability to easily operate a computer and software such as Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Willing to travel occasionally.
  • Willing to take after-hour calls from Clients.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS / ENVIRONMENT :

  • Must be able to hear sounds and designate differences between them, and talk via telephone and electronic devices in the workplace.
  • Ability to operate and read from computer / laptop monitor.
  • See differences between colors, shades, and brightness.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Variable work environment - work is conducted both indoors and outdoors with varying environmental conditions at customer, vendor, and JCI facilities.
  • Fast-paced environment, subject to schedule and priority changes and short notice activity.
  • Willingness to visit wastewater environments as necessary to bid Field Service work.
  • Classified as Safety Sensitive.
