Job Opportunity With The City Of Waco

The City of Waco seeks an individual to take on a key leadership role in the Public Works Department, specifically overseeing the maintenance and repair operations. Minimum qualifications required include a high school diploma or GED equivalent, five years of experience with water and wastewater infrastructure construction and maintenance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Class C Water and Class II Wastewater license from Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) is required upon hire, as well as a Texas Class A Commercial Driver's License with Tanker Endorsement within 180 days of employment. May be required to become certified for the Respiratory Protection and Confined-Space Entry Program and maintain certification.

Under general supervision, plans, schedules, and supervises the daily operations of the maintenance and repair work crews for the Public Works Department. Essential functions include planning, scheduling, and supervising projects for the repair and maintenance of water distribution and wastewater collection systems, supervising staff, assigning duties and responsibilities, and meeting regularly with staff to discuss and resolve workload, technical, and safety issues. Assists with project and operational budgets, supervises the training of W / WW staff, ensures appropriate safety protocols are followed, completes paperwork, forms, and reports as necessary, and responds after-hours, including holidays and weekends, in the event of a departmental or City-wide emergency. May be required to work in trenches and in a confined space to oversee maintenance tasks. Driving is essential.
