Oracle's West Coast Hardware Development organization seeks to add a Principal FPGA Electrical Engineer to work with our FPGA, electrical, mechanical, SI and power teams in Santa Clara, California.

Opportunity to work with technology from Intel, AMD, Nvidia and other compute, storage, and communications companies to design servers for Oracle's Cloud deployments, database appliance, middleware, and AI solution offerings. Work in a smaller organization within Oracle to team up with other technical experts in Signal Integrity, Power, Electrical, Validation, Mechanical, Diagnostics, BIOS and OS to leverage their expertise and further enhance your FPGA design skills using world class FPGA tools and test equipment.

The team is responsible for the architecture, analysis, detailed design, development, integration, test, and delivery of Oracle servers based on high-end server-grade merchant silicon. The systems delivered are integrated as building blocks for Oracle’s Cloud Systems & Appliances.

The FPGA requirements of our next generation Oracle servers are very demanding with a high level of integration for cloud and vertically integrated rack level solutions. This role is on a product team with full ownership responsibilities, not in an FPGA service group.

Role and Responsibilities

As an Electrical Design Engineer focusing on FPGA design, you will be responsible for system level and board level architecture and detailed design. You will take ownership of the FPGA work across all product development phases through the transition to volume production. You will stay abreast of the latest developments in server technology and rapidly adopt and translate these into reliable FPGA subsystems for Oracle offerings.

Responsibilities

• Architect and partition FPGA logic.
• Design and code logic for next generation cloud compute servers, storage subsystems and GPU systems.
• Integrate common code blocks into designs.
• Simulate FPGA design solutions.
• Achieve timing closure on FPGA designs.
• Validate FPGA designs.
• Debug board problems with a focus on FPGA debug levels.
• Work with internal teams to ensure system and FPGA design requirements meet specifications.
• Collaborate with internal firmware / software teams on system level diagnostics.
• Bring up and test prototypes.
• Develop and implement test plans.
• Mentor junior engineers.
• Perform and lead lab debug of HW / FPGA problems.
• Contribute to formal design processes, including requirements management and documentation.

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only.

US : Hiring Range in USD from : $97,500 to $199,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity. Oracle maintains broad salary ranges to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, and for differences across products, industries and lines of business. Candidates are typically placed within the range based on factors including internal peer equity.
